So I decided to straighten my hair using the Beautiful Textures Texture Manageability System.  I've been checking reviews and eying it ever since they got Chime to have her hair done with it.

Anywho, I used it last night. I tried to keep the heat down because that's my biggest concern. I don't want to heat damage my hair.  I didn't use the comb attachment on my blowdryer. I used medium heat with the tension method. and for flat ironing, I used 325 degrees. Obviously, I didn't get my hair bone straight (which I didn't want anyway) but it's straight enough, and still very thick.

My ends were crunchy, however.  it seems straightening my hair is a good opportunity to really check my ends. And even though I didn't have many splits, my ends were still janky.  I think it's because I I've been pinning my ends up instead of tucking them away lately. No biggie. But I did end up cutting the ends to keep them from giving me any problems.

Anywho, here are some pics.

I'll probably throw some large caruso curls in for the graduation.  But, I found that taking my hair down from a high bun gave my really nice big waves i my hair. Either way.

Hey Ladies! Just checkin in. Cleo and I are somewhat speaking bc I figured out my issue. NJoy, she seemed shorter whilst straight and she was(and still is) shedding mostly my old ends. I believe that bc I'm a long term no trimmer cutter, my ends are shedding heavily. I'm focusing on my ends, heavily contemplating a trim( last on my list b4 I do my other troubleshooting), reupping on my Vits, and dc'ing and all that jazz. So, we'll see.

I have neglected this thread for so long!
I have put aside this challenge and focused on other things in my life. But Summer is around the corner and it is so hot in LA that it feels like Summer already - and I want waist length hair for Summer!Cry

This pic I posted on Jan 20th in this thread (page 24)

This pic I just took now; did not wash my hair today yet, just brushed it back in order to show the length. There is a tiny growth noticed, and it would be much more growth if I had not slacked off all those months and taken a break last month, but c'est la vie lol

I am back to this challenge! I have to finish the MABH oil and I will apply it daily as I planned for April but didn't do itErmm
Oh, also I have tried 3 times in the past 10 days to mix half package of unflavored gelatin with water and applied on my hair, to see if I get any thickness. I am going to continue to do that this month.

So, yeah...The Beautiful Textures Manageability thingy.  Been there, won't do it again.

Even though I tried not to get it bone straight by putting high heat on it, I still stayed within the recommended range given.  It left my hair feeling coated and dry. I've been trying to describe it as velcro-y because the hair would have to be pulled away from each other. It was never flowy and silky and I couldn't wait to wash it out, which I did barely, making the 1 week mark.  The thing that I was most concerned with was, would I get my texture back unharmed.

Well, I will say that my hair did curl/kink back up. I'm not sure that it returned 100% tho because. Maybe I didn't poo enough times. It's been 2 weeks now and tonight is wash day. I'll poo once more and see what happens.  I mean, my curl patter seems slightly stretched and when I braid it to airdry, it's more tame than usual. But then again, that happened the first time I flat ironed too so, tonight's wash will tell me the truth.

In any case, it's not something that I will do again or even recommend.  After washing, my we hair felt sort of weird. I'm not really sure how to describe that feeling.  Maybe I'm oversensitive about possible expectations of damage. I don't think I suffered damage but with that stuff did have my hair feeling bone dry and couldn't wait to drench my hair in moisture.  I'm looking forward to deep conditioning with steam tonight too.  Yummy.

But, I did njoy my stretched braidout while my texture was "managed".  lol  My braidout from average ol' Celie braids was on point.

I don't know if I've already said but, having my hair straight was a good opportunity to check my ends. They weren't in bad shape, as far as splits, but were crunchy, probably from pinning my ends up instead of tucking them like usual.  So, I ended up cutting 1- 1.5 inches to keep my ends from becoming and issue with potential splits or tangling.  I'd been trimming here and there but I was able to actually see the results of my trim and my hair deserved more than just searching and destroying. That said, I have to stay on top of my protective styling game. Natural hair is making me a bit lazy with that as I'm definitely more tempted to do puffs and braidouts.

Sexy&Famous, if my hair was that long, I would be declaring waist length right about now.
You have on a tenting top so you can not see where the hourglass of the waist is at its narrowest. But I think you are pretty close to that point right at WL and going on hip length from here on out!
I don't know what others think, but for me you're wl now.

Me and Cleo made up. Finally tlc'ed her and detangled after just throwing her up in a puff for about a month straight. Did an intensive overnight DC yesterday. Washed out today and cowashed. Currently, sitting in Celie plaits for plaitout tomorrow.

Yay, Luv.  Glad you're making nice over there.

I'm in Celie braids for a braidout tomorrow too.  So far, my braidouts have been turning out really nice.  The stretched one with the tms was nice but, I'm glad to have my texture back.

Detoxed, deep conditioned, moisturized, sealed and braided my hair up for tomorrow.  My hair feels so moisturized.

Here's a pic of my braidout a few days ago.
