Every person? No. The majority? Yes.
I'm basing this on my time rippin and running the streets with hood boogers and what I see in my work every day.
These
same gangsters that are shooting up people have ebt cards. Whose
address did they use? They have a place to lay their heads at night.
Whose house is it? They go to cookouts, they go watch the game with
they're buddies, they go get their dicks sucked by their baby mamas, and
they keep their clothes and sh*t at their mama's house. They grow and
sell drugs at or in front of somebody's house. People write their sorry
asses when they're in jail and answer their collect phone calls. And it
goes on and on.
All of that support makes it possible for them to keep doing exactly what they're doing. |

The
"upstanding" citizens are just as bad as everyone else. My point is
that the community as a whole is supporting these murders by providing
support to the perpetrators. It's not a small percentage...it's nearly
everyone. Very very very few people are willing to take a real stand and
tell these murderers no, you can't come to the baby shower/family
reunion/bbq/superbowl party or no you can't keep your clothes/gun/pills
at my house or no I won't put money on your books or no you can't use my
address or no you can't sit on my stoop or park your unregistered,
uninsured, unlicensed car in my driveway.
I
lived in the hood, in foster care, and still work there today. I see
this ish every single day and I'm honestly tired of it. People are in
denial of the part they play. |

This broke my heart.
They need to RING THE ALARM in chicago. this sh*t is getting out of hand.
They need an all out task force to come in and get the riffraff off the streets, asap. And then the communicty really needs to step in and take a stand...determine what else needs to happen. some examples need to be made and some tough decisions need to be carried out.
crime is everywhere.....but 40 murders in one month?? Its like they go in with the intention to surpass the previous year.
eta: the community has to keep fighting. they have to work to advocate for more programs, services for the children AND the parents, youth job programs, etc. it is a battle going on outside for these children and the majority do not want to be "bout that life" ...they are just put in those environments.

She aint lying. and I think the personal bias is just another form of complacency. It's sad to think that 40 is okay because it's relative to other cities, or it's okay because 'contained', so it's not a real issue. or that because someone got rich by destroying their own community, they get some kinda nicca diplomatic immunity. but that's just my opinion. & thinking that Obama shouldn't do anything because he'd look bad...omg

No number of deaths is OK. Y'all are a mess. My point is that this is a nationwide problem. Don't feel safe because you don't live there. everyone must play their part.

It just seems kinda moot. And you aren't the only one who feels like that, so I hope you don't think I was singling you out.

This thread just felt way too preachy about what people in Chicago need to do instead of how to address violence in the inner cities period.

Of course crime happens everywhere. There was an 18 y/o girl killed in DC last week and Im sure that did not make the news like this case. Why, because week after week you are hearing about the killings in chicago and coming through a a ridiculous rate. Different cities have their time when they are at the top of the "murder capital" and chicago is up.
i don't know why you are being defensive about Chicago.

i also think the declining murder rate in DC has more to do with the change in demographics. I mean, the top cops can take credit for that if they want, but sending poor people out to montgomery and PG county en mass sure isn't hurting either.
| yep, you are right about this.
