I think any city that has 40+ homicides in one month deserves help and should be able to request federal money and backup, we just happen to be talking about chicago right now.

And regarding the bold, the point is to stop people before they have a chance to commit these acts. If you lock up probation/parole violators, you're locking up the criminals who perpetrate this type of violence. If you enforce curfew laws, again, you're locking up the criminals who are the perpetrators.

It's just like DUI checkpoints, you stop everyone and lock up those who are breaking the law. I bet if they set up weapons checkpoints in the area of certain clubs on a friday or saturday night they'd be able to lock up a bunch of these fools who are carrying weapons illegally.

Check people's twitters and facebook and instagram. You post pics with drugs/guns, police show up at your door. Simple.

My point is, lock those people up who are committing certain crimes and that will help bring down this violent crime rate. Of course, this takes money. Law enforcement can't do it's job without money.

FWIW. Chicago has more murders than NY even though they have a much lower population. And the trend is showing that murder rates are dropping pretty quickly in NYC while rising quickly in Chicago. Chicago also leads the nation in guns sized by police.
