I have GD. It's annoying because I never test high eating my normal diet. My doctor even told me to check it once a week cause they don't see my numbers moving. the diagnostic test they give you challenges how effective your body is after ingesting pure sugar. I'm a meat veggies, salt, and salad girl rather than sweets so I'm guessing my body already knew the deal.

Anyway, now I'm at higher risk for developing type 2 later in life. So I have to make sure to never let my weight get out of control and make sure I'm tested during my physical exams from now in.

My sister and I were both insulin resistant which is a precursor to dm 2. My sister and I both have a genetic disposition to it as our mom had dm 2 and our grandma has dm 1. My fasting glucose was normal but my a1c was high. Weight loss has done the trick though. It's funny bc the insulin resistance causes the weight gain and makes it really hard to lose weight as well.. People really should get their blood work done. I'm no longer insulin resistant but my doctor keeps an eye on my a1c level so I get blood work quarterly for everything including that.
