I bet a lot of the people who have
undiagnosed diabetes also have undiagnosed non-alcoholic fatty liver
syndrome and other issues too. Hopefully with the changes in health care
more people will start getting the basic tests they need.

We have a protocol on our floor that anyone admitted gets 24 hours of pre-meal one touches.  If they are positive we cover them.  Sometimes steroids or other meds are a factor but several people have gotten some tough news this way.  They run an A1c if they have high one touches and if the diagnosis is confirmed, the education and management begins.

Although obesity is a huge problem for a lot of reasons including diabetes, I will cosign it's not always who you think it's going to be.

HMM so which type diabetes do they have?

Generally most I believe 90% of diabetics have type 2. Correct me if I'm wrong BHM diabetic statisticians.

Huh? No. People in my real life have argued that they're healthy and just fine but they have no bloodwork to prove it. They're just gong by how they feel. Big people, small (but clearly unfit), all sorts of people. I can think of a few people who really need to hear this message.

My friend says she is healthy and has blood work to prove it. She is 5'4 and around 300 or so pounds

I make sure to check my stats every years because I don't always eat right. I love my soul/comfort food but I do it in moderation.

I usually check mine at home about once a month. I'm not diabetic/pre diabetic, and never had any issues but I just like to know what's going on. I guess it's like the scale thing lol

I have regular physicals too but I check it and my b-pressure (and other things) at home just for my own info.
